Our Bloodlines

Two breeding dogs, presented here as two specimen plates — pedigree, temperament and the complete health record behind every litter.

We keep only two breeding dogs at a time. That's deliberately few: it lets us know them thoroughly, have them tested every year, and choose every mating based on complementary temperaments — not just the pedigree printed on paper.

Audubon

Planches Naturalistes' Audubon · Blue belton · 6 years

The kennel's principal sire, Audubon carries the Laverack type almost to the letter: solid bone, a proud head carriage, an even temperament. He's also the first to greet a visiting family.

Health

What we test for, and what we guarantee.

No mating takes place before Audubon and Linnéa have passed that year's full round of testing.

Hips and elbows (OFA)

X-rays evaluated by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals, redone every year on both parents.

Ophthalmologic exam

Annual eye exam by a veterinary ophthalmologist, to screen for any hereditary retinal condition.

Hearing test (BAER)

The English Setter's very light coat comes with a higher risk of congenital deafness. Every breeding dog — and every puppy — is tested before going home.

DNA panel

Genetic testing covering progressive retinal atrophy (PRA) and English Setter myopathy, two hereditary conditions documented in the breed.

Two-year guarantee against serious hereditary conditions, provided in writing when the contract is signed. Replacement or refund, your choice. Audubon and Linnéa's certificates are handed to you directly at your visit.
